Yul-gok hyung 6th kup in the ITF Style
From Yul-gok to Forms Page
YUL-GOK is the pseudonym of a great philosopher and scholar Yi l (1536-1584) nicknamed the "Confucius of Korea" The 38 movements of this pattern refer to his birthplace on 38 latitude. The pattern traces the character for the word "scholar".
Yul gok is the fifth of 24 International Taekwondo Federation hyungs. Many find it a stretch to accept the philosophical aspect of tae kwon do forms. But if you stretch your imagination, it adds another component to your training.
Many of the ITF hyung are connected to historical events and people in Korean history.
